Teaching Study Skills

Greetings!

I’m Dr. Teacher and I teach Study Skills online with Skype. We can meet on Skype for your FREE 15 minute lesson. Do you want a free 15 minute trial study skills lesson on Skype? We will talk to each other with a microphone and I will use my web camera so we can see each other’s smiling face. After our conversation, I am sure you will be interested in purchasing some of my great Skype study skills lessons. My Skype name is Dr. Teacher and my website is: www.helpmeread2.com so make sure to say hello to me, Okay?

Because we are currently conversing, I know you must be interested in learning more study skills techniques with me, is that right? So check out my website at www.helpmeread2.com.

My study skills lessons include, but not limited to a) organizing your book bag with fewer binders and folders, b) producing classroom notes that help you pass tests with higher grades, c) setting and accomplishing goals, d) reading textbooks and writing papers more efficiently, e) memory techniques for remembering numbers, names, dates, lists such as the names of the U.S. presidents in or out of sequence, the names of states and their capital, plus much more. You will also learn to track and monitor your grades to help you achieve your academic goals.

How to Read like a Rock Star (Memory Skill).

• When reading an article, number each paragraph, picture, map, graph, table, timeline, etc. Always read the captions and try to understand the illustration because this is helpful information the author wants you to understand.
• Put arrows by the author’s name, title, source, date, and footnotes.
• While reading, put a box around each new word and create a vocabulary list.
Underline what you believe is important or may be a test question.
• Identify each main idea with a star.
• A question mark? identifies items you do not understand, have a question about, or is confusing.
• Write a couple of words in the margins to help you remember the major idea of the paragraph. The marginal notes can ask questions, show connections with two or more items, or used to make predictions about certain events.
• Consistently repeating the above will increase your reading comprehension. This technique will take practice; however, once learned, you will be surprised at how great your memory has become. It is said that we do not have a poor memory, but an untrained memory. Train your memory and watch your GPA soar.
